Civil Registration in New Zealand are available for BIRTHS & DEATHS from 1848  

An Index of BDM has been produced on microfiche and may be available at major Libraries, Family History Centres and Societies.  Whilst reference numbers are required to apply for a copy of New Zealand Civil Registrations if a known year is provided the Registry will search either side of the year at no additional charge.

There are two forms of registrations available:

OFFICIAL CERTIFIED CERTIFICATES  or

ELECTRONIC PRINTOUTS of HISTORIC REGISTRATIONS Digital images are taken from the Official Registers and provide all recorded details for family history research .
