1901 Census of England and Wales Online Search 32,000,000 people in England & Wales in 1901 Includes images of the original enumeration documents.
FreeBMD Home Page FreeBMD is an ongoing project, the aim of which is to transcribe the Civil Registration index of births, marriages and deaths for England and Wales, and to provide a free searchable Internet access to the transcribed index entries.
The value of this site is in the range of years and counties in your search.  However in ordering England/Wales Certificates the original GRO Index reference should be checked before ordering.      If spectacles are shown next to the entry, click on the spectacles and follow the prompts to view the original index page.   See our England/Wales page .
FreeCen : UK Census Online Project

This project aims to provide a "free-to-view" online searchable database of the 19th century UK census returns.  You need to check the notes on Database Coverage. Over 500 volunteers world-wide are working on the transcription on the census returns with primary focus on the 1891 Census

FreeREG - Search English Parish Register Transcripts and Indexes The FreeREG Project's objective is to provide free Internet searches of baptism, marriage, and burial records, which have been transcribed from parish and non-conformist church registers in the UK.
Church Album - Roughwood

The album contains images of 942 churches including 478 from East Sussex and 153 from West Sussex

Commonwealth War Graves

The "Debt of Honour Register" is the Commission's database listing the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died during the two world wars and the 23,000 cemeteries, memorials and other locations world-wide where they are commemorated. The register can also be searched for details of the 67,000 Commonwealth civilians who died as a result of enemy action in the Second World War.

Royal Naval Seamen - The National Archives

You can now search for over 500,000 names of Royal Navy ratings - online. The names cover those who joined between 1853 and 1923.
Use this collection to find out details about your ancestor's birth, occupation and the ship(s) they served on.
More interesting still, later records have a description of their physical appearance.

Historical Directories Historical Directories is a digital library of local and trade directories for England and Wales, from 1750 to 1919. It contains high quality reproductions of comparatively rare books, essential tools for research into local and genealogical history.
